Cervical cancer – Regular cervical cancer screening testing for cervical cancer should begin at age 21 for cervical cancer prevention. If you are between the ages of 21 and 29, you should have a cervical cancer screening test every three years. Between the ages of 30 and 65, you should have a screening test every five years. If you are over the age of 65 with normal cervical cancer screening test results, you should no longer be tested. Women over the age of 65 with a history of cervical pre-cancer should continue to be tested for at least 20 years.

Causes of Cervical Cancer

Healthy cervical cells are mutated to form cancerous cells. Cancer cells do not die, they multiply and do not die out, hence creating a tumor. The cancer cells can spread to metastasize in other organs. The main cause is unknown, but HPV is a main cause of the cervical cancer.

  • Take HPV vaccination. It is given for women at the age of 9 to 26 years, it is most effective for clients who are not sexually active

  • Start sexual activity at a later age
