FACELIFT

Facelift Surgery in Jumeirah, Dubai

Would you like to get rid of the wrinkles? Has it ever come to your mind when you looked in the mirror in the morning? A facelift could be an appropriate solution to address the problems of facial wrinkles, broken contour of the jaw-line, and deepened nasolabial fold. A facelift tightens the underlying muscles, removes the excess skin, and redrapes the tissues to give a relaxed, youthful appearance. The surgeon hides the scars in natural creases to make them almost undetectable.

Before The Facelift Procedure

Our surgeon at our clinic in Dubai, will listen carefully to your wishes and evaluate your face and neck. Taking into account your expectations, facial features, anatomical situation, and skin condition around the face and neck, She makes a custom made plan for you. Do not hesitate to ask all your questions during the consultation of the facelift surgery – some patients make a written list of questions to make sure nothing left forgotten. The surgeon will also check for certain medical conditions that could limit the extension of the surgery (such as uncontrolled high blood pressure, blood clotting problems, or the tendency to form excessive scars), because your safety is very important for us.

Facelift surgery could be combined with other facial procedures to restore the natural harmony between the different facial subunits including the neck. The most commonly performed additional treatments could be non-invasive (like peeling, laser, injectables, and botox) or surgeries (like eyelid correction, facial implants, forehead lift, midface lift, neck lift). Always ask your surgeon about the possible combination of the procedures you are considering along with the facelift surgery at our clinic in Dubai.

You will also visit the anesthesiologist, who would give information about the sedation during the procedure and the pain management after the facelift surgery.

During The Facelift Procedure

Most face lifts and neck lifts are performed under local anesthesia with sedation, but sometimes general anesthesia can be used.

Incisions usually begin above the hairline at the temples, extending in a natural line at the front of the ear, and continuing behind the earlobe to the lower scalp. If the frontal neck should be tightened, a small incision may also be made under the chin.

In general, our surgeon separates the skin from the fat and muscle below. Fat may be suctioned from the chin and the jaw-line to improve the contour. Our surgeon then tightens the underlying muscle, pulls the skin back, and removes the excess. Similarly, in case of a neck lift, the surgeon tightens the neck muscles and removes the excess fat. Stitches secure the layers of tissue and close the incisions.

Following the facelift surgery, a small, thin tube may be temporarily placed under the skin behind your ear to drain any blood that might collect there. Our surgeon will also wrap your head loosely in bandages to minimize bruising and swelling.

After The Facelift Procedure

There isn’t usually significant discomfort after the facelift surgery; if there is, it can be lessened with the pain medication prescribed by our surgeon or the attending anesthetist. At the beginning, your face may look swollen, you may feel numbness. Your facial movements may be slightly stiff and eating and speaking could be difficult due to the local anaesthetics. As by the dentist, this improves in the first hours after the facelift surgery. During the early postoperative period a special elastic garment should be worn to reduce the bruising and the swelling, which recedes in one to two weeks completely. After the removal of the sutures, generally by the end of the second week, a special camouflage make-up can mask most bruising that remains and the redness of the scar. You’ll have some scars from your facelift or neck lift, but they’re usually hidden by your hair or in the natural creases of your face and ears. In any case, they’ll fade with time and should be scarcely visible.

  • Two days – keep your head elevated and as still as possible, to keep the swelling down. If you’ve had a drainage tube fitted, it will be removed now, as will bandages
  • Seven to ten days – stitches will be removed. Your scalp may take longer to heal, so the stitches in your hairline could be left in a few days longer
  • 10 to 14 days – return to work
  • 2 weeks or more – you can resume more strenuous activity
  • 2 to 3 weeks – bruising will subside
  • A few weeks or more – numbness of the skin after the facelift surgery is quite normal until this time. It will disappear
  • Several months – limit exposure to sun

Duration of results: Usually 5 to 10 years.
